The Phonix began in 2009, founded by a group of Jazz Studies graduates. We cut our teeth performing every single week for 7 years as a house band. Those thousands of hours taught us how to read a room, how to respect a timeline, and how to turn a stiff corporate mixer into a raging party.

It’s simple. We require a signed contract and a 50% deposit to lock in your date. Once that is received, we turn down all other inquiries for your date. You can sign and pay digitally in seconds through our secure Client Portal.
Yes. While the 50% deposit is required to book, the remaining balance is due on the day of the event. We accept credit cards (collect those points!), e-transfers, cheques, and EFT.
We know life happens. If you need to postpone, we will transfer your deposit to a new date free of charge, provided we are available on the new date. We are here to reduce your stress, not add to it. We require minimum 90 days notice for a date change.
We love road trips! We have flat-rate travel fees for popular destinations so there are no surprises:

Note that these fees cover our transportation costs only. You'll be required to provide us hotel accommodations for 10 or 11 adults (minimum 5 double rooms) as well (depending on your package).
Yes. Unlike agencies that throw together a random "pickup band" based on whoever is available, The Phonix is a dedicated team. You are booking the 9-piece band you see in our videos.
The "Real Life" Disclaimer: We are humans, not robots. In the rare event of severe illness or emergency, we have a deep bench of "Phonix-Certified" substitutes (often Grammy or Juno winners themselves) to ensure the show goes on flawlessly.
Absolutely. You will have access to our Client Portal where you can mark your "Must Plays" and "Do Not Plays" from our extensive song list. We generally recommend giving us about 5-10 of your favourites to give us a "vibe check," and then trusting our bandleader to read the room and pack the dance floor.
Want a song that's not on our current list? Our "Signature" and "Diamond" packages include one free song request - where we arrange and learn one special request song just for you ($750 value). We can learn even more songs for a fee. Just ask!
Never. We provide a curated playlists or DJ service during all band breaks. We keep the energy high and the music flowing seamlessly so your guests never leave the dance floor. That said, many crowds also enjoy a break, especially when the band is so good. They'll party hard during band sets, then use the band break to get drinks and hit the washroom. This flow can actually help to keep the audience more engaged during band performance times, which is good for audience enjoyment and your event ROI!
Loud enough to party, but quiet enough to talk at the back tables. We bring a professional sound technician to every event to actively mix the volume in real-time. If your venue has a strict Sound Limiter, please let us know! We are experts at working within venue restrictions without killing the vibe.

Yes, please. A fed band is a happy band! We ask for 11 vendor meals (9 musicians + 2 sound technicians). A hot meal keeps our energy up for your 3-hour dance marathon.
Yes. Our "Signature" and "Diamond" packages include a professional wireless microphone and sound system for your speeches and toasts. Our technician monitors the levels so there’s no screeching feedback—just crystal clear audio.
Our production team arrives approximately 4 hours before guests arrive to load in, set up, and soundcheck. We ensure everything is quiet and tidy long before your first guest walks through the door.
Yes. We carry a $2 Million Commercial General Liability policy. If your venue requires a certificate of insurance, just let us know and we’ll email it.
